Before the Keys: A 2026 F-150 Raptor Arrives for PDI

A first person walkaround catches Ford's desert truck in the brief, rarely seen moment between transport and its customer.

THIS IS THE RAPTOR BEFORE THE SHOWROOM.

Most new vehicles are first seen after the protective materials disappear, the glass is cleaned and every surface is ready for presentation. This walkaround catches the opposite moment. The truck has arrived, but dealer preparation has not yet turned it into a finished delivery. Shipping markings, protective interior coverings and the window label are still part of the scene. It is less polished than a launch image and more revealing because of it.

“Before the detail bay adds the shine, the Raptor still looks like a machine that has just crossed the country to meet its owner.”

PDI IS THE HANDOFF BETWEEN FACTORY AND OWNER.

Dealer preparation is the final stage before a new vehicle reaches its customer. The work typically includes checking fluid levels and tire pressures, confirming key systems and features, removing transport protection, completing required software or campaign steps and cleaning the vehicle for delivery. This video is not a technical inspection guide; it is a record of the short interval before those jobs are finished.

THE HARDWARE ALREADY TELLS THE STORY.

Ford rates the standard Raptor's 3.5 liter High Output EcoBoost V6 at 450 horsepower and 510 pound feet of torque, paired with a 10 speed SelectShift automatic. Four wheel drive, an electronic locking rear differential, FOX Live Valve shocks and a five link rear suspension form the core of the desert truck formula. Normal, Sport, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Off Road, Baja and Rock Crawl modes let the truck reshape that hardware around the terrain.

THE LARGER TIRE OPTION GOES EVEN FURTHER.

Standard Raptors use LT315/70R17 BFGoodrich all terrain tires on 17 inch cast aluminum wheels. Ford also offers bead lock capable 17 inch wheels with 37 by 12.5 inch tires and available Dual Live Valve shocks. The video makes the wheel, tire and suspension stance impossible to miss, but the exact options fitted to this individual truck remain a window label question rather than something Motor Current will infer from appearance alone.

THE RAW FIRST LOOK IS WORTH KEEPING.

A finished delivery photo celebrates ownership. Pre PDI footage preserves a different part of the story: the moment the vehicle still belongs partly to the logistics chain and partly to the road ahead. There are no driving impressions here and no attempt to turn a parking lot walkaround into a road test. It is simply a close look at a new Raptor before the polish, and that honesty is the reason to watch.

MOTOR CURRENT VERDICTThe unpolished arrival view makes the Raptor more interesting, not less. It reveals the capable hardware beneath the showroom finish and documents a part of the ownership story most buyers never get to see.

SHOULD YOU CARE?Yes. The completed truck is familiar; the transport markings, protective coverings and untouched delivery condition make this a genuinely different look at it.
